No. SimpleSlip is designed for employers whose staff earn below the tax threshold and don't require PAYE registration. If an employee's earnings do cross the threshold, SimpleSlip will flag it and allow you to manually enter a PAYE amount — but we'd recommend speaking to an accountant at that point.

Each payslip includes the employer's business name and address, the employee's name, job title and ID number, the pay period, gross pay, UIF deduction, any additional earnings (like overtime or a bonus) and deductions (like an advance), and the final net pay. Employer bank details and notes can also be included.

You send them a secure link via your own WhatsApp. They tap the link and enter the last 4 digits of their ID or passport number to verify their identity and view the payslip. No app download or account needed on their end. They can also save or print it as a PDF directly from their phone or browser.

Yes. SimpleSlip automatically calculates both the employee and employer UIF contributions on every payslip at the current rate of 1% each, capped at the monthly limit. You don't need to work anything out. Note that SimpleSlip handles the calculation for the payslip — you are still responsible for submitting and paying UIF through uFiling.

Yes. For hourly employees you can add normal time, overtime at 1.5× and 2×, and sick leave — all calculated automatically from their hourly rate. You can also add custom earnings like a Christmas bonus or allowance, and custom deductions like a salary advance. Everything flows through to the final net pay automatically.

Weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles are all supported on every plan, including the free tier.

Yes. All payslip links are protected by the employee's ID number — nobody can view a payslip without it. Sensitive data like ID numbers and bank account details are encrypted at rest.

No. You can create a free account with just your email address — no credit card required. The free plan supports one employee with unlimited payslips and includes all features. You only need to upgrade if you add more employees.

Yes. Employees have their own portal where they can view their last 12 months of payslips. If they need proof of income for a loan, rental application, or credit provider, they can generate their own link containing their last 3 months of payslips — no need to contact you. The link is valid for 7 days and can be shared directly with a bank or credit provider.
